Head men’s basketball coach Mark Price announced Thursday afternoon that Birmingham, Ala. native Jeremy Banks has been added to his 2009 recruiting class, which is now eight players strong.
Banks, a 6’3 wing, comes to Ouachita after suffering an injury that forced him to redshirt at Adams State. Banks has proven that he can compete at the college level as he played at Faulkner State Community College where he lead the Sun Chiefs to a 21-7 record in his Sophomore year. Banks, who was a Second Team All-Southern Division Selection (Alabama C.C. South Division), averaged 10.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3, assists per game in his sophomore campaign. Banks also took care of business in the classroom as he maintained a 3.5 GPA and made the dean’s list while at Faulkner.
Prior to his time at Faulkner, Banks played high school basketball for Minor High School of Adamsville, Ala. In 2001 and 2003 Banks played a large role in helping the Tigers win county championships in both years. Banks was an all-conference and Area 11 all-tournament team pick as a senior in 2004. In his senior year banks averaged 15 points, seven rebounds, and four assists per contest. Not only was Banks a standout on the court but he was also a standout for the Tiger’s track and field team. Jeremy plans on majoring in Political Science while attending Ouachita in the Fall.
