Ouachita Baptist University’s Director of Athletics David Sharp and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mark Price announced Aug. 28 the release of the upcoming 2009-2010 men’s basketball schedule.
To begin the season, the Tigers will face off against a pair of Division I teams in Arkansas State and Southeast Missouri State for exhibition matchups.
The schedule includes eight non-conference home games against Incarnate Word, North Alabama, St. Edward’s, Texas A&M-Commerce, Drury, Dallas Christian, Central Baptist and College of the Ozarks. Also included is a pair of GSC Crossover games against West Alabama and West Georgia.
“We have some challenging games against very well coached teams early, and throughout, our non-conference schedule,” Head Coach Mark Price said. “These games will certainly prepare us for Gulf South Conference play which is arguably the strongest conference schedule anywhere in the country at this level. We welcome the challenge and look forward to the opportunity it presents.”
The Tigers open the regular season Nov. 19 against Alabama-Huntsville on the road then travel to Florence, AL to take on North Alabama in a pair of non-conference matchups. The team returns home for the first game at Bill Vining Arena on Nov. 25 against Incarnate Word.
Gulf South Conference action kicks off on Jan. 9 against Delta State. The annual Battle of the Ravine series against cross-town rival Henderson State begins with a home series on Jan. 28. On Feb. 27, the Tigers will finish the GSC and regular season slate with a home matchup against Harding. --Alan Greenwood, OBU Sports Information Director--
